City Response to Coronavirus

The City of Vincent is stepping up its preparedness and putting measures in place in response to the spread of Coronavirus.

“The City of Vincent’s priority right now is implementing measures to respond to the coronavirus for the safety and health of our community, our customers and the City’s employees,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“We are taking action in line with recommendations by the Department of Health and we are also planning for the continuation of our core services as we look forward.”

The City has cancelled large scale non-essential gatherings and is currently working with organisers to review smaller upcoming events.

Customer bonds will be repaid when bookings are cancelled at City-owned facilities.

RSLWA has called off all ANZAC Day commemorations around the State in the interest of veterans’ health and safety.

“The City of Vincent will work with our local RSL Mount Hawthorn Branch to consider providing an alternative way to commemorate ANZAC Day, such as using our online channels,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

Beatty Park Leisure Centre, the Library and the Community Centre will remain open at this time. The situation will be closely monitored and reviewed as advice is received. These facilities have already increased cleaning regimes and are working with patrons to practice social distancing and good hygiene.

“Home delivery services of library books and meals on wheels will be unaffected by these measures,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“We understand how important these services are for our seniors in the community and we want to ensure they are cared for and supported.” Other City services currently remain operational.

Some City employees will start working from home today as a preventative measure and customers and ratepayers are encouraged to contact the City by email, phone or social media in the first instance.
