A Life of Crime with Dave Warner

Past Event

Award-winning crime writer Dave Warner joins us in the City of Vincent Library to promote his new book, River of Saltwhich is set for release April 2019 through Fremantle Press. Beaufort Street Books will be in the library selling copies of the book.

An experienced and wide-ranging performer, Dave is touring his 'A Life of Crime' show across the country. Subtitled ‘An hour of hits, wit and lit’, he and a musician or three will detail his life growing up in the suburbs of the world’s most isolated city, and how this shaped a desire to make music and fed his appetite for writing crime fiction. River of Salt introduces the new genre of surf noir, and Dave will talk about how he came up with the idea for a young mob hitman saving the day in small-town Australia.

This latest novel takes place deep in the heart of the 60s surf music scene on Australia’s East Coast. Former hitman Blake Saunders flees the mob in Philadelphia and sets up a new life in a quiet coastal town on the north coast of New South Wales. But the brutal murder of a young woman at a local motel plunges him back into the criminal underworld, especially when the cops start to get a little too close to Blake’s new friends.

About Dave Warner:

Warner’s first novel, City of Light, won the Western Australian Premier’s Award for Fiction, and the follow-up, Before it Breaks, took home the Ned Kelly Award for Best Crime Fiction.
