Learn about Noongar bush medicine from Vivienne 'Binyarn' Hansen at this free workshop at the City of Vincent Library. This free event is part of the City's Reconciliation Week 2019 celebrations.

Vivienne Hansen

Vivienne, a Balladong Whadjuk woman of the Noongar nation is renown for her knowledge of local bush medicine. From childhood she learned about traditional medicine, and then later undertook formal training at Marr Mooditj Foundation to complete a Certificate IV in Bush and Western Herbal Medicine. Vivienne was the first Aboriginal member of the National Herbalist Association of Australia, presented at the 7th International Conference of Herbal Medicine in 2010 and is the co-author of 'Noongar Bush Medicine: Medicinal Plants of the South-West of Western Australia.'


The free workshop will start with a talk and Q&A by Vivienne. After a cup of tea, workshop attendees will then work alongside Vivienne to create some potpourri and sandlewood nut moisturiser to take home. Light lunch, tea and coffee will be provided.
