Tracing Your Family History on Social Media

Presented by Melinda Tognini

Join Melinda Tognini as she shares how to make the most of social media and blogs to trace your family history. She will discuss how to get started, the most useful social media platforms, connecting with others with similar ancestry, utilising local knowledge, and protecting your privacy. Whether you have been hesitant to engage with social media, or are a regular user, you are sure to discover new ways to research your family's story.

Melinda Tognini is a teacher, author and family historian, whose first book Many Hearts, One Voice: the story of the war Widows' Guild in Western Australia was published by Fremantle Press in 2015. She is particularly passionate about telling "invisible" stories and empowering others to find their voice. Melinda is currently researching numerous branches of her family tree, in Australia and overseas, while completing a Graduate Diploma in Family History through the University of Tasmania.
