Leedy Film Club: Carnival of Souls

Wednesday 29th October 2025

Love great cinema and lively discussion? The Leedy Film Club invites you to join a community of film lovers for monthly screenings of classic, international, and thought-provoking films. Each session features a hand-picked film followed by an informal discussion where you can share your thoughts, ideas, and insights with fellow film buffs.

Each screening will be followed by a discussion led by film academic, writer, and filmmaker, Dr Damien Spiccia. Damien has lectured at WAAPA and Edith Cowan University, where he developed courses in screenwriting, film production, and screen history, and has presented at international film conferences.

October Screening: Carnival of Souls

In this surrealist cult-classic, Mary Henry (Candace Hilligoss) mysteriously survives a car wreck. In an effort to put this traumatizing incident behind her, Mary moves to Utah where she takes on a job as a church organist.

However, her fresh new start is interrupted by the haunting, relentless presence of a strange man (Herk Harvey) who seems to follow where ever she goes. As her sightings of the man increase, she finds herself drawn to the dilapidated carnival on the outskirts of town. It isn't long before she discovers the terrifying secrets it holds…

This is an adults-only event.
