Researching Your House

If you’re interested in what the walls of your house have seen over the years, you have come to the right place…

Here, you can answer some of your burning questions, such as:

  • When was the house built?
  • Who built it?
  • Who was the architect?
  • Has it been altered over the years?
  • Who were the earlier owners and occupiers?
  • Are there photos?
  • What is the history of the street?

We’ve got a very helpful tool for you and you can access it via the link below

A Guide to Researching the History of Your Home

Open a whole world of historical avenues you may never have imagined you could access. This document may point you in the right direction to help understand and create a chronological story of your house. There’s also a checklist of resources in the Local History Centre, or just pop in and ask us.

One more thing – we would love it if you could donate a copy of your historical finds to the Local History Centre. This ensures your research is not lost and is available for future researchers and residents.

Have fun, and be sure to let us know if you need a hand.
