Vincent verge collections rescheduled

There is good news for Vincent residents who have been using their time in isolation to declutter their homes, with bulk hard waste collections rescheduled for July and August.

Verge collections were postponed earlier this year after the City’s contractor raised valid concerns about their ability to complete the job during the growing COVID-19 pandemic.

Council has now approved the rescheduling of collections from July 20, provided there are no further impacts from COVID-19 restrictions.

“We want to thank community members for their patience and understanding when we put the junk verge collection on hold,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“We believe it is now safe to re-schedule bulk hard waste collections and give everyone the chance to get rid of any junk they have, particularly with so many clean ups happening as we spend much more time at home.

“It is really important that people do not put their waste on the verge before their collection date.

“We don’t have the capacity to collect anything outside the collection dates and we do not want our streets to be filled with rubbish.”

Area maps with detailed bulk hard waste collection dates are now available online here.

Leaflets will be distributed throughout Vincent before the collections start. These will outline the dates and give advice around safety measures and service restrictions.

Due to COVID-19, the City strongly discourages people from sifting through their neighbour’s junk piles.

The City is still offering on-demand collections for anyone who wants to get rid of mattresses or white goods in the interim.
