The East Perth Football Club, otherwise known as the ‘Royals’ are a WA Football League club  who were based at Perth Oval in Pier Street from 1910 until 2002.  The club won its first premiership in 1919 and went on to win 17 premierships in total.

In the 1950s, Noongar footy legend Graham 'Polly' Farmer was the Royal’s star player. Farmer left to play for Geelong in the mid-1960s but later returned to coach East Perth.

While Noongar residents of East Perth took pride in Farmer’s achievements on the field, their devotion to East Perth Football Club was more than just pride in one player. Barracking for the Royals was a way to show love and loyalty to the East Perth community.

"All East Perth Noongars love and barrack for the Mighty Royal’s black and blue, East Perth Footy Club." Lindsay Calyun
