An introduction to family history
Past Event
Tracing your family history is something that is on the ‘to do’ list for many people, but where do you start?
In this beginners course participants will be guided in how to begin researching their family tree and discover useful family history resources with expert genealogists Olive and Wendy.
They will learn how to use library resources like Ancestry as well as some free websites.
Advice will also be given on organising and storing your family tree and valuable documents.
Olive and Wendy are both members of Family History WA (previously known as WAGS) and are experienced researchers. Both have volunteered with family history research at Joondalup Library for many years. Olive has also volunteered at Wanneroo Library. Wendy volunteered at WAGS for 12 years and is a past secretary of that society. They have run various courses at Joondalup, Woodvale, Duncraig, Lancelin and Gingin libraries. Olive and Wendy also organise events for the Australian Heritage Festival at Joondalup Library on an annual basis.
