Feminine Space - author talk and poetry reading with Lisa Collyer

Thursday 30th May 2024

Join Lisa Collyer, author of How to Order Eggs Sunny Side Up in a searing discussion as she talks to the taboo and abject bodies of female bodies in contemporary Australia. Listen to her journey to publication through writer residencies and lived experience and hear the poems that dare to go there.

Lisa Collyer is a poet and educator in Boorloo. She is the author of the poetry collection, How To Order Eggs Sunny Side Up, which was short-listed for The Dorothy Hewett Award in 2022 and is published with Life Before Man, Gazebo Books. She is widely published in Westerly, Rabbit, Cordite, Australian Poetry Anthology, Salt Bush Review, Science Write Now and more. She was a recent inspire writer in residence for The National Trust of W.A. and a feature poet of the Perth Poetry Festival, The Perth Writer’s Festival and The Mandurah Readers’ and Writers’ Festival.

Praise for How to Order Eggs Sunny Side Up

‘Searing poetry of feminine experience, How to Order Eggs Sunny Side Up is unashamedly visceral and lights up with flashes of literary incandescence. Formally inventive, bleakly comic, slyly erotic – these are poems which bristle with edges and glint like cut gems. Each poem arrives like a dare, refusing euphemism or domestication.’
