Where the Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan curves around East Perth is a significant place for Noongar people.
The area is home to several registered aboriginal sites noted for being a Noongar camping and meeting place with a special spiritual connection to the Waugal and other important creation stories.
Many storytellers talked about their special connection to the river.
